Main Street #1, or ‘The Antique Shop,’ is on the easel in this photograph. I had a couple of good, long sessions on it today. I’m having fun painting the bric-a-brac in the shop window. Vermilion is a lake-front town (biggest concentration of small-boat marinas on the Great Lakes) and many shops have a nautical theme, like the one in this painting with its carved sea captain, stuffed parrot, and anchor.

Later today, we are celebrating my son Keith’s 15th birthday (his birthday is actually tomorrow). After Keith was born, my wife became a full-time mom for 12 years. She stopped working at the right time. She was working in the World Trade Center when she quit Merrill Lynch in 2000.
