I started the over-painting on The News this morning. The News is 44″ x 60.” I haven’t put brush to it for several weeks while I waited for it to dry. I do a lot of layers and bad things happen if new layers are put over still-wet ones. This is one reason I work on a lot of paintings simultaneously. I am never stalled waiting on a painting to dry. I have so many paintings in-hand and planned, I have years of work ahead of me. And i’m always starting new ones! I began the drawing on a 42″ 56″ painting this morning before working on The News.

Paintings are like children; I would never favor one of my children over another. Same with paintings, but I do like this one. Something about it tickles me.

For some paintings, it’s easy to lose the thread and mess them up–I’ve done that more than once. Others are strong and the path is clear so it’s hard to mess them up. The News is the latter type.
