Turpentine diaries 2/24/19

I completed the under painting today for Fork. Fork is 54″ 66″. Even if you’re not familiar with my blog, you can probably see that the painting is still a long way from the finish line.

The lights nearly everywhere are from the thinnly-covered gray ground. Next session I start the over-painting; adding full-bodied lighter tones and strengthening the darks too.

I worked this week on the drawing for another painting in the Main Street series. (Fork is part of this series.) The as yet unnamed painting is 40″ x 50″.

For several years I’ve been focused on subjects set in public spaces. It’s been some time since I used models but I’m itching to do paintings set in interiors with more intimate themes. Maybe some nudes or portraits.
