Recent paint buy

I refreshed my paint stock last week. Instead of buying from Blue Ridge or RGH as I have been, I bought these oils from Blick. I like RGH but their tubes–the physical tubes–are the worst I’ve ever tried to use.

As for Blue Ridge, I noticed that their flake white is less covering that Utrecht’s. I continue to support both manufacturers but with less ardor than previously.

In my oil paint brand rankings, I selected both RGH and Blue Ridge as my mid-range choice. I still do but Utrecht is creeping up and passing my other high-ranked brand, Winsor Newton. WN has stopped making the all-important flake white while Utrecht continues to produce it. And, as I mentioned, it has surprising covering strength.
